Domestic, International and Export Control Solutions
The University of California is a global organization. International activities in which the University is involved include faculty/student exchange programs, intercollegiate consortia, sponsored research, research collaborations, work with non-profit corporations, joint ventures, international foundations, trusts, and more. Through these rich collaborations and relationships abroad, the University extends its global influence and shares its contributions to the world.
Since the events of September 11, 2001, the U.S. federal government has increasingly viewed export control regulations as a means to potentially guard against terrorism and other threats. As a result, there is renewed focus on compliance and enforcement of these regulations, in particular at universities.
What activities might trigger export control concerns? Examples include research involving students from foreign countries, shipping items abroad, and international collaborations and travel.
