Education Partnerships

Education Partnerships brings together the University's research, teaching and public service resources with those of other education segments to address issues in public education that prevent far too many students from achieving at levels that will make them college- and workforce-ready. The department develops policy that supports University engagement in solving critical education issues and ensuring excellence and accountability for the programs and services it provides to students, schools, teachers, families and communities.

With a focus on intersegmental relationships, the department promotes excellence in teaching and success in learning by providing California's educators with research on best practices, support for curriculum development and pedagogical innovation, recruitment and preparation of credential candidates, leadership preparation, high-quality professional development and forums for K-12/university faculty collaboration. The Education Partnerships department further promotes college access and preparation to raise student achievement levels generally and to close achievement gaps between groups of students throughout the K-20 pipeline.

Programs and services in the Education Partnerships department include those focused on teaching, learning and leadership such as COSMOS, the California Subject Matter Project, and the Science and Mathematics Initiative (CalTeach); those focused on raising student academic achievement such as EAOP, MESA, Puente and community college transfer initiatives; and those focused on strategically solving overarching educational issues through intersegmental relationships, such as P-20 Regional Intersegmental Alliances, California Academic Partnership Program (CAPP) and the Alliance for Regional Collaboration to Heighten Educational Success (ARCHES).
