Biography
Rob Kerner serves as the IT Manager for the Department of Plant Sciences. He has 17 years of service with the University of California, with 2 years at UCLA and 15 years at UC Davis.
At UC Davis Rob is the Chair of Staff Assembly, current member of the Technology Infrastructure Forum, and past member of the Campus Council for Information Technology. His staff provides a high level of technical support to a very large academic department.
“At CUCSA I want to work with UCOP in changing the way we do business. There are too many disconnected business processes that staff have to work around. Each individual campus does not need their own way of doing everyday administrative business.” He also wants to work on improving the UC as an employer. “These past 5 years I have seen too many excellent staff leave for positions in private companies because they are better compensated with better benefits.” Rob feels that CUCSA should continue to lobby for tuition discounts for staff dependents.
