On March 27, the University of California Board of Regents voted unanimously to appoint Mark G. Yudof the 19th president of the University of California . Mr. Yudof is the current head of the University of Texas system and is a recognized leader in American higher education
Upon his appointment, Mr. Yudof said, “I am deeply honored by this appointment. The University of California stands as a model for the world, creating tomorrow's leaders and innovators and helping to solve many of society's most pressing problems. I can think of no greater personal privilege than to have the opportunity to lead this remarkable institution.”
In addition to academic excellence and student opportunity, Mr. Yudof places priority on communicating with Californians to build a greater understanding of how the university contributes to their daily lives. He emphasized the importance of accountability, a greater understanding of roles and responsibilities, collaboration, and cost savings.
