Expert Technical Assistance

CPAC connects California leaders with UC experts to help develop positive public policy regarding healthcare quality and healthcare access for vulnerable populations.

Helping California Decisionmakers Facilitate Positive Policy Change

CPAC provides technical assistance to legislators and executive branch officials by identifying UC academic experts to advise and help craft healthcare legislation.

CPAC's technical assistance to the California Assembly and Senate during the healthcare insurance mergers in 2003 and 2005 paved the way for the inclusion of social responsibility standards in for-profit mergers.

Additionally, CPAC's technical assistance to California's Healthy Families program helped the State reach its target population of racial and ethnic minorities.

CPAC's technical assistance activities are just one element of the program's ten-year contributions aimed at improving healthcare access for California's most vulnerable populations.

Featured Project

California Medicaid Institute

CPAC and a UC faculty workgroup laid the groundwork to form a multi-campus UC policy and research institute focused on the Medi-Cal program. Named the California Medicaid Research Institute (CaMRI), the institute's goal is to provide on-going research and technical assistance to the California Department of Health Services (DHS). The Institute will assist Medi-Cal in analyzing data, organizing programs, and framing programs to better serve target populations.
