Promoting Healthcare Access for Vulnerable Californians
The California Program on Access to Care (CPAC) is celebrating ten years of promoting healthcare reform in the State of California. CPAC's achievements range from revitalizing Healthy Families, a children's low-cost insurance program, to laying the groundwork for a State prescription drug discount plan.
CPAC pays special attention to California's most vulnerable populations, including immigrant workers and their families, the working poor, and households in agricultural and rural areas.
CPAC was originally created in 1997 at the behest of the California State Legislature under the U.C. Office of the President. Recently, CPAC also partnered with U.C. Berkeley's School of Public Health. CPAC continues its system-wide role of rallying the resources of the nation's most prestigious academic institution to improve healthcare for all vulnerable Californians.

"CPAC does a good job of identifying
skills and expertise
of academic researchers, and applying
them to health policy
issues and problems confronting the
Legislature and
Administration, in a timely and
relevant way."
