Vision Service Plan (VSP)

The Vision Service Plan is a preferred-provider organization with more than 4,000 providers in California and 22,000 nationwide. Benefits include one vision examination per calendar year, one set of corrective lenses per calendar year, and one set of frames every other calendar year. The vision plan does not have any exclusions for pre-existing conditions.

Plan changes for 2012

Changing to Choice Network from Signature Network; about 98 percent of California providers are in the Choice Network.
UC is using some of the savings from the network change to improved the contact lens benefit. Under improved benefit, members pay $10 copay for eye exam and receive $110 allowance toward the cost of contact lenses. The chart below compares the current benefit with the enhanced benefit for 2012.
