[September 10, 2008]

The University of California is pleased to announce the selection of CONEXIS, a recognized leader in benefits administration, as the new vendor for the Health Care Reimbursement Account (HCRA) and the Dependent Care Reimbursement Account (DepCare), as well as aspects of the University's COBRA process. Earlier this year, UC put these plans out to bid in order to explore new options and to provide UC employees with the best service available. After reviewing the candidates proposals and offerings, CONEXIS was identified as the strongest vendor and is expected to offer the following:

  • Streamlined claims processing and communications for HCRA and DepCare administration
  • Process enhancements for COBRA administration
  • System and security capabilities
  • Dedicated account service teams for UC benefits staff

The transition to CONEXIS for the HCRA and DepCare plans will occur on 1/1/2009; more information will be forthcoming during the upcoming Open Enrollment. While we are still working out the details, we expect SHPS to continue providing service during the run-out of the 2008 plan year (through the 6/15/09 claim filing deadline) for HCRA and DepCare. The transition of COBRA administration will occur in the first half of 2009; more information on this transition will be shared towards the end of 2008.

Please note: CONEXIS has been a national benefits administrator since 1986 and should not be confused with the Connexxus!™ Travel Management program.
