[November 16, 2009]

Retirees have until 5 p.m. Pacific Time on Tuesday, November 24, to visit the Open Enrollment website to consider and make UC health and welfare benefit plan changes for 2010. We encourage you to take any actions soon and not wait until the last minute to avoid heavy usage that can cause delays in accessing the website.
Retirees need to visit the Open Enrollment website to make any plan enrollment or coverage changes for next year. You may take the following actions during Open Enrollment:

  • Change to a different medical plan.
  • Change to a different dental plan (California residents only).
  • Enroll eligible family members in your health plans.
  • Enroll in the Legal Plan.
  • Suspend coverage. If you have other group or individual medical coverage, you may suspend your UC-sponsored medical coverage and re-enroll during a future Open Enrollment or at any time if you lose the other coverage.
  • Re-enroll in a medical plan if you have previously suspended your UC-sponsored plan.

If you are satisfied with your current benefit, you don’t have to take any Open Enrollment action.

Open Enrollment actions will be effective January 1, 2010.
