Just a reminder—if you think you might want to appeal the amount of your 1999 maximum annual contribution (MAC) to the Tax-Deferred 403(b) Plan, or to elect an alternative contribution limit, the deadline for these transactions is rapidly approaching.

All requests to recalculate a MAC or to elect an alternative contribution limit must be received by UC HR/Benefits by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 1, 1999.

You can find out your 1999 MAC amount and your current contribution level online or call bencom.fone at 1-800-888-8267. To use either service, you will need your Social Security number and your Benefits Personal Identification Number (PIN). If you don't know your PIN, please call (your local Benefits Office).

To appeal your MAC amount, you will also need to know how your MAC was calculated. This information is available from bencom.fone—you can ask to have an explanation of your calculation, including the data UC used, faxed or mailed to you.

If you decide to appeal your MAC or to elect an alternative contribution limit, you can download materials; they are also available from your local Benefits Office or from bencom.fone.
