Beginning immediately, UC employees and annuitants who use the UC HR/Benefits online sites, “Your Benefits Online” and “UC for Yourself,” and the interactive telephone system bencom.fone, will find several security changes.

  • New sign-in identification: Employees and annuitants are now able to create a personalized username to sign in and complete transactions on “Your Benefits Online” and “UC for Yourself.” After establishing a username, you can use either your username or Social Security Number to sign in.
  • PIN authorization: The next time you sign in to “Your Benefits Online” or “UC for Yourself” or call bencom.fone, you will see or hear an authorization, which confirms your understanding that UC is authorized to act on your instructions for both online and interactive telephone services. If you agree to the authorization, it will not appear online or be heard on the phone system again.
  • Lost PIN/Change PIN feature expanded: This online feature is now available to annuitants and former employees. It allows users to reset their PIN online rather than calling UC Customer Service to get a new PIN. In addition, all users can create a personalized question and answer, using information known only to them, to confirm their identity should they forget their UC PIN. When a user correctly answers the question, he or she is signed in.

These security enhancements make it easier for UC employees, annuitants and former employees to use HR/Benefits’ many self-service applications, including updating personal and tax withholding information, verifying UC employment, transferring retirement plan balances, and applying for a 403(b) loan.
