Enrolling in Health and Welfare Plans
Enrolling in Health and Welfare Benefits is easy. You can enroll online using
At Your Service Online during your period of initial eligibility (PIE).
Your PIE starts on the day your eligible employment begins and it ends
31 days later at midnight. You'll need to sign in to At Your Service
Online to choose your plans. As a new employee, you are assigned a temporary
password (your birthdate in the format mmddyyyy, with no dashes or slashes;
for example, if your date of birth is June 17, 1967, your temporary password
is 06171967). Your temporary password expires when your PIE ends. You
will want to create your own password because whenever you access your
personal information through At Your Service Online, you will be asked
to provide your UC password and your username or Social Security number.
You will also need to choose a Primary Care Physician or a Primary
Medical Group Number (not needed for Blue Cross PPO, Kaiser or Core). Find
a Doctor provides links to online directories for most plans.
If you do not enroll during your PIE, you will automatically be enrolled
with single-party coverage in Core Medical, and, if you are a Career
employee, you will be automatically enrolled in single-party coverage
in Delta Dental and Vision Service Plan.

Eligibility for State Premium Assistance
If you are eligible for health coverage from UC, but cannot afford the premiums, some states have premium assistance programs that can help pay for coverage from their Medicaid or Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) funds.
