In simplest terms, "wellness" means empowering yourself to take charge of your own health through self-education, active participation in healthy lifestyle and disease management programs, and attention to preventive measures for reducing health risk.

You are the most significant source of your own wellness and health, and there is much you can do to pursue them. Taking charge of your own lifestyle with regular exercise or participation in recreational activities that help you remain fit is one of the most important things you can do.

UC supports your wellness efforts through UC Living Well. The goal of UC Living Well is to encourage members of the UC community to lead and maintain a healthy lifestyle and to access the wellness activities and programs that UC locations offer.

The UC Living Well website serves as a portal to the many wellness resources available to enhance the personal health and well-being of UC faculty, staff and retirees. For example, as a UC employee, you have access to the recreational sports facility at your location where you can find many individual and group fitness programs and sports activities that you can tailor to your needs and wellness goals.
