In September 1984, Assembly
Bill 2614 was signed into law by Governor George Deukmejian
to establish academic geriatric resource programs at
University of California health sciences campuses. At
their January 1985 meeting, The Regents elected to administer
the AGRP and the President subsequently delegated program-oversight
authority to the Vice President for Health Affairs.
Shortly thereafter, a faculty advisory committee was
organized to assist in program planning and development.
The Advisory Committee includes representatives from
the six UC health sciences campuses and an at-large nursing
representative.
