Statewide analysis

The number of "a-g" approved secondary Other Career Technical Industry Sector courses increased statewide from 961 to 1018, an increase of 5.5 percent compared to last year. Of the 1361 public comprehensive and alternative high schools in California, 503 or 36.9 percent have one or more "a-g" approved Other Career Technical Industry Sector course. Presently, there are 2026 Other Career Technical Industry Sector courses offered statewide of which 50.2 percent meet the “a-g” subject requirements.

A-G subject requirements

In analyzing the “a-g” subject requirements, Other Career Technical Industry Sector courses are approved in all areas except the English (“b”) and mathematics (“c”) subject areas. There were substantial increases from the previous year in courses approved in the "a" subject area (46.6 percent) and “g” subject area (8.6 percent).
