Statewide analysis

The number of "a-g" approved secondary Home Economics Careers and Technology courses increased statewide from 293 to 317, an increase of 7.5 percent compared to last year. Of the 1361 public comprehensive and alternative high schools in California, 214 or 15.7 percent have one or more "a-g" approved Home Economics Careers and Technology course. Presently, there are 6952 Home Economics Careers and Technology courses offered statewide of which 4.5 percent meet the “a-g” subject requirements.

A-G subject requirements

In analyzing the “a-g” subject requirements, Home Economics Careers and Technology courses are approved in all areas except the history / social science (“a”), English ("b") and language other than English (“e”) subject areas.. There was a substantial increase (6.9 percent) from the previous year in courses approved in the “g” subject area.
