Statewide analysis

The number of "a-g" approved secondary Health Science and Medical Technology courses increased statewide from 1165 to 1256, an increase of 7.2 percent compared to last year. Of the 1361 public comprehensive and alternative high schools in California, 707 or 51.8 percent have one or more "a-g" approved Health Science and Medical Technology course. Presently, there are 2426 Health Science and Medical Technology courses offered statewide of which 51.7 percent meet the “a-g” subject requirements.

A-G subject requirements

In analyzing the “a-g” subject requirements, Health Science and Medical Technology courses are approved in all areas except the visual and performing arts (“f”) subject area. There was a substantial increase from the previous year in courses approved in the “d” subject area (8.8 percent).
