Academic Personnel
Academic Personnel develops programs, initiatives, and policies to support faculty recruitment, advancement, retention, and the training of new academic leaders. We serve as primary liaison in all matters related to academic appointees, including faculty, research and health science clinical faculty, librarians, lecturers, graduate student, and postdoctoral appointees. In addition, Academic Personnel provides oversight of faculty and academic affirmative action and diversity programs.
In collaboration with Campus Administration, the Academic Senate, and the Office of the President, Academic Personnel manages policies that affect compensation, benefits, and employee relations for all academic personnel at the University. Our unit leads UCOP initiatives and projects related to proper authority, compliance, and management of academic personnel. We provide guidance in policy and compensation matters to campus and Senate leadership. In that advisory role, Academic Personnel serves as primary consultant to the University Committee on Faculty Welfare and the University Committee on Academic Personnel.
