In
developing the cluster program, we had three major goals.
Data
from surveys of freshmen in cluster classes, as well as surveys of seniors
who have been asked to reflect back on their cluster experiences, suggest
that our goals are being achieved.
From
these assessments we have learned that clusters facilitate an effective
transition, advance the improvement of basic academic skills (particularly
writing and critical thinking), and encourage students to approach major
issues from an interdisciplinary perspective.
