Faculty support programs
An Employee Assistance Program (each location may have a different name) is available to the faculty and their family members at each UC campus, medical center, and Laboratory. The University recognizes that personal problems such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse, as well as family, legal, and financial difficulties often need professional intervention. The Employee Assistance Programs will provide confidential counseling and referral to help resolve personal difficulties.
It makes sense to consult a specialist when personal problems begin to affect your career or your quality of life. It is never too early, or too late, to address issues causing concern. Examples of faculty related concerns may include stress management, support going through the tenure process, and support with difficult students. All personal information will be held in strict confidence with the same privacy protection given to medical records.
Rehabilitation services are available when a disability substantially limits the faculty member's work activities. Special assistance may be provided for a reasonable accommodation. For more information contact your local Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.
