Welcome
The University of California assembled a Long Range Guidance Team to assess the future needs of the state and how its public research university should be prepared to respond. What emerged was a vision for the University captured in the phrase "the power and promise of 10."
This vision is built on the idea that California and the University are best served by highly distinctive campuses, each with its own unique profile of academic strength. When acting as a system, then, the University is able to summon the creative talents and resources distributed across all 10 campuses to meet the evolving needs of our institution and the state. By working together, we also can provide administrative systems that are commonly required at all campuses much more efficiently than we can independently.
In 2006, the University of California launched a new systemwide academic planning process to help us realize this vision of the power and promise of 10. A critical first step has involved the campuses sharing their academic planning with each other to help them make better decisions about their future growth.
Other ongoing systemwide planning efforts are described under current planning priorities. More information and links will be posted to this site as various efforts and task groups progress.
