
President's Postdoctoral Fellowship Program
The University of California President's Postdoctoral Fellowship Program was established in 1984 to encourage outstanding women and minority Ph.D. recipients to pursue academic careers at the University of California. The current President's Postdoctoral Fellowship Program is open to all qualified candidates who are committed to university careers in research, teaching, and service that will enhance the diversity of the academic community at the University of California.
University of California policy governing the appointment and advancement of professors states,

In accordance with University policy, review committees will evaluate applicants in all fields according to their potential for appointment as University of California faculty with special consideration given to their potential for contributions to the diversity of the academic community as described on the President's Postdoctoral Fellowship Program Web Site under Evaluation, Selection and Eligibility and Terms of Appointment
It is the applicant's responsibility to:
- Obtain the sponsorship of a University of California faculty member, other than your Ph.D. dissertation advisor, who is willing to serve as a mentor;
- Submit a completed online application with PDF documents by November 2, 2009.
Please review the sample application for a list of required documents before beginning the online application. This application submission process requires that you upload documents in PDF format. If you do not have the ability to create PDF files please contact Program Manager Kimberly Adkinson.
Your application is not complete until all elements listed above have been completed and the documents have been received by the President's Postdoctoral Fellowship Program.
To begin, you'll create and enter a username and password in the section under New Users below. If you had to stop your application before you completed and you had already created a username and password, you can log back in under Returning Users and any information that you've submitted should be saved.

After completing the online portion of the application, you can check the status of the receipt of your supporting documents by using the same username/password to log into the President's Postdoctoral Fellowship Program online application site and clicking on the "Current Status" link.
