GENERAL RECRUITER INFORMATION
Recruiter Event 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m.
The Southern California Forum for Diversity in Graduate Education will take place on the campus of the California State University, Channel Islands, One University Drive, Camarillo CA 93012. The recruiter fair held in conjunction with the Forum will take place from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. Recruiters will register at the recruiter registration area starting at 9:00 a.m. Shuttles from the hotel to the event site and back are scheduled at 8:15 and 9:30 a.m. and again at 3:00 and 4:15 p.m.
Workshops for students will be held throughout the day, in classrooms surrounding the recruiter fair area. Students will be visiting the recruiter fair continuously from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. The day’s scheduled events include:

Hotel Accommodations
The hotel for the Forum is the Crowne Plaza Ventura, 450 East Harbor Blvd., Ventura, CA 93001, ph. 805-648-2100 and 800-842-0800. The hotel is located directly on the beach, adjacent to Ventura's historic pier, at a walking distance from the historic Downtown Ventura and AMTRAK station, 30 minutes south of Santa Barbara, and about 20 miles from the campus of the California State University, Channel Islands.
On the day of the Forum there will be a shuttle bus running from the Crowne Plaza Ventura, to the CSU Channel Islands campus.
A block of rooms has been reserved for Forum recruiters for $99 plus tax per night, on the nights of April 15 through April 17, 2010. Alternatively, you can make reservations by calling the hotel’s direct line (805-648-2100 or 800-842-0800) and specify that you are with the “Cal State Channel Islands” event.
Reservation deadline: The hotel guarantees to hold the block of rooms at the negotiated Forum rate until March 25, 2010. The hotel will accept reservation after this date only a space available basis, and rooms will be charged at the standard hotel rates.
Recruiter Reception
On Friday night, April 16, 2010, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., the Forum will host a dinner reception for all registered recruiters and for the Sally Casanova California Pre-Doctoral Scholars in attendance. These are students you will very much want to recruit. The reception will be held in the Top Harbor Room of the Crowne Plaza Ventura. Come visit with old friends, meet new colleagues, and be introduced to Sally Casanova California Pre-Doctoral Scholars.
Shipment and Handling of Materials
If you wish to ship materials in advance of the Forum, please use the following guidelines:
Materials should not be shipped until after Monday, April 12, 2010 but must arrive by Wednesday, April 14, 2010. Pre-printed address labels will be mailed to recruiters by the end of March, 2010. We prefer that you use these labels for addressing your boxes. Make sure you fill in the recruiter name and telephone number on the label. Packages should be addressed to:

Driving Directions
We recommend the use of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), because it is a major airport with hundreds of scheduled flights a day.
Driving from LAX to Crowne Plaza: Take I-405 North for about 18 miles, then US-101 North toward Ventura for about 52 miles. Take exit 70A (California Street), turn left on California Str., and left at Harbor Blvd. Your destination will be on your right, at 450 East Harbor Blvd.
Driving from Crowne Plaza to the CSU Channel Islands Campus: Take US-101 South for about 16 miles. Take exit 53B toward CA-34/ South Lewis Rd. Drive on South Lewis Rd for about 2.5 miles, and turn left at University Drive.
Driving from LAX to the CSU Channel Islands Campus: Take I-405 North for about 18 miles, then US-101 North toward Ventura for about 36 miles. Take exit 53B toward CA-34/ South Lewis Rd. Drive on South Lewis Rd for about 2.5 miles, and turn left at University Drive.
