Sina Farsui, UCSC

Sina Farsui is a doctoral student in the Electrical Engineering department at University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC), where he conducts research alongside Dr. Peyman Milanfar, Dr. Micheal Elad, Dr. Dirk Robinson, Dr. Julian Christou, Center for Adaptive Optics, and Multi-Dimensional Signal Processing (MDSP) research group. Sina’s research interests include image enhancement and reconstruction, with an emphasis on multi-frame super-resolution, demosaicing, and motion estimation. He is currently working on a project, sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, designed to capture high-resolution images through turbid media.

Sina earned his Bachelor’s degree from Sharif University of Technology and his Master’s from the University of Tehran. After he completes his Ph.D. at UCSC, Sina plans to stay in Santa Cruz as a postdoctoral fellow. He sites the close proximity to the Silicon Valley, the quality of the engineering faculty, and exceptional weather as key reasons to maintain his affiliation with UCSC. He appreciates the collaborative nature of the engineering department and asserts that UCSC is a blossoming program with access to academic advisors that are not only the best in their field, but are excellent mentors as well.
