Aman Husbands, Plant Biology, UCR

I received my B.Sc. in Biology from the University of Toronto, Canada in 2001. After taking a year off to work for the USDA and a reinsurance company, I came to Riverside, California to study plant development with Patricia Springer. I currently work on characterizing members of the LOB DOMAIN family of plant-specific transcription factors. I am trying to uncover the function of three members of this family in Arabidopsis and, by extension, the role they may play in other agricultural species. UC Riverside is an excellent school for plant biology and has a range of student resources to make that difficult transition to grad school easier. One such resource, the 'Get Connected' program, paid for me to attend a career development conference in October of 2005 where I took advantage of some valuable networking opportunities.
