Tyronne Martin, UCSB
Tyronne Martin is from the Los Angeles area. He grew up in a multi-environment:
from the projects to the suburbs. As graduate student in the Chemistry
Department Tyronne finds time to participate in on campus organizations he is
the vice president of AGEP Society and the Academic Chair for Black Pioneer
Renaissance Organization (BPRO). He has received the Alliance for Graduate
Education and Professoriate (AGEP) Fellowship and Center for Nanotechnology and
Society (CNS) Fellowship. He is also the recipient of the 2007 UC Santa Barbara
Chemistry Department’s Outstanding Service Award for Graduate Recruitment.
Tyronne’s research interests include protein design and engineering, along with
drug-microtubule interactions and stability. During his undergraduate education
he participated in minority science programs (MBRS-RISE and LSAMP) and carried
out research in the synthesis of organometallic catalysts. Tyronne received a
bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from California State University, Los Angeles.
Once his Ph.D. in Chemistry is complete he will go into the bio-medical field
and teach part-time.
