2010 Statewide Analysis by CTE Disciplines

The number of UC-approved secondary Agriculture Education courses statewide increased from 1,049 to 1,090 courses or an increase of 3.7% compared to last year. Reportedly, 95.3% of all agriculture programs statewide have one or more UC-approved agriculture courses. Of the 1,283 comprehensive and alternative high schools in California, 339 or 26.4% have one or more UC-approved agriculture courses. Presently, there are 2,317 agriculture education courses offered statewide of which 47.0% meet UC "a-g" admission requirements.

The number of UC-approved secondary Business Education courses statewide increased from 854 to 959 courses or an increase of 10.9% compared to last year. Of the 1,283 comprehensive and alternative high schools in California, 493 or 38.4% have one or more UC-approved Business Education courses. Presently, there are 5,261 Business Education courses offered statewide of which 18.2% meet University of California "a-g" admission requirements.

The number of UC-approved secondary Health Careers courses statewide increased from 847 to 933 courses or an increase of 9.2% compared to last year. Of the 1,283 comprehensive and alternative high schools in California, 622 or 48.4% have one or more UC-approved Health Careers courses. Presently, there are 2,273 Health Careers courses offered statewide in which 41.0% meet University of California "a-g" admission requirements.

The number of UC-approved secondary Home Economics Careers and Technology courses statewide increased from 234 to 248 courses or an increase of 5.6% compared to last year. Of the 1,283 comprehensive and alternative high schools in California, 179 or 13.9% have one or more UC-approved Home Economics Careers and Technology courses. Presently, there are 5,089 Home Economics Careers and Technology courses offered statewide in which 4.8% meet University of California "a-g" admission requirements.

The number of UC-approved secondary Industrial and Technology Education courses statewide increased from 508 to 628 courses or an increase of 19.1% compared to last year. Of the 1,283 comprehensive and alternative high schools in California, 326 or 25.4% have one or more UC-approved Industrial and Technology Education courses. Presently, there are 6,710 Industrial and Technology Education courses offered statewide in which 9.35% meet University of California "a-g" admission requirements.

The number of UC-approved secondary Art, Media and Entertainment courses statewide increased from 3,472 to 3,752 courses or an increase of 7.4% compared to last year. Of the 1,283 comprehensive and alternative high schools in California, 904 or 70.4% have one or more UC-approved Art, Media and Entertainment courses. Presently, 47.5% of all Art, Media and Entertainment courses in the state meet University of California "a-g" admission requirements.

The number of UC-approved secondary Other Career Technical Industry Sector courses statewide increased 686 to 779 courses or a 11.9% increase compared to last year. Of the 1,283 comprehensive and alternative high schools in California, 425 or 33.1% have one or more UC-approved Other Career Technical Industry Sector courses. Presently, there are 5,633 Other Career Technical Industry Sector courses offered statewide in which 13.8% meet University of California "a-g" admission requirements.

The number of UC-approved secondary ROC/P courses statewide increased from 920 to 1,087 courses or an increase of 15.3% compared to last year. Of the 1,283 comprehensive and alternative high schools in California, 379 or 29.5% have one or more UC-approved ROC/P courses. Presently, there are 14,298 ROC/P courses offered statewide of which 7.6% meet UC "a-g" admission requirements.

The number of UC-approved secondary Project Lead the Way (PLTW) courses statewide increased from 0 to 66 courses or an increase of 100.0% compared to last year. Of the 1,283 comprehensive and alternative high schools in California, 30 or 2.3% have one or more UC-approved PLTW courses.

The number of UC-approved CTE courses found in Private Schools was 1,590 which is an increase of 9.1% from the year before. Of the 967 private schools listed in the UC's data bank, 334 or 34.5% have one or more UC-approved CTE courses.
